The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) Women Who Empower Awards Luncheon: Celebrating Leadership, Excellence, and Impact
On May 14th, I had the honor of speaking alongside some extraordinary women at the Women Who Empower Awards Luncheon, hosted by the The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ).
As I delivered the closing remarks, I shared a message that I believe is essential to building stronger leaders, organizations, and communities:
“If you have access, widen the entry point. If you have influence, create proximity. If you have insight, transfer it.”
These words were inspired by the remarkable women gathered in the room, leaders who continue to break barriers, create opportunities, and elevate others through their work and service.

University Hospital Chair Tanya Freeman on Understanding People
As board chair of University Hospital in Newark, Tanya Freeman handles all the official duties of leading the state’s only public hospital. However, the conversations she has about COVID-19 at the grocery store are just as important.
