Attorney Carole A. Hafferty
Experienced New Jersey Lawyer
Carole is a Partner of the firm in the Matrimonial Department. She specializes in handling all aspects of family law, including but not limited to spousal support, equitable division of assets and liabilities, division of closely held businesses, child support, child custody, relocation, cohabitation, termination/modification of alimony and post judgment asset division and enforcement. Carole appreciates the financial as well as the emotional aspects involved in every family law matter. She works closely with her clients to develop a strategic plan tailored for the facts specific to each case. She zealously advocates for each client to ensure that he or she enters the next phase of life in the best possible position.
Carole attended Suffolk University School of Law, and thereafter served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable David M. Borden of the Supreme Court of Connecticut. Her background and experience in the Appellate arena were indispensable to her work on the 2019 precedential New Jersey cohabitation law case, Landau v. Landau, 461 N.J. Super. 107 (App. Div.), certif. denied, 240 N.J. 243 (2020). Carole wrote the briefs presented to the Appellate Division and the New Jersey Supreme Court. The Courts ruled in her client’s favor and reaffirmed long standing black letter principals which provide protections to ex-spouses accused of cohabitation who are at risk of losing both alimony and privacy rights.
